Children in need get a life-changing dental experience through the power of sports

Walking through a School of Dentistry poster session can be inspiring for anyone who’s invested in the future of dentistry, and that was certainly true for the recent presentations made as part of the recent Research and Discovery Day.

Lauren Kress, DDS/PhD ’31 is this year’s AADOCR Gert Quigley Fellow.

A new initiative that includes members of the Offices of Admission and Alumni Relations, as well as the Division of Community Outreach & Engagement, has been making strides in connecting the dentistry community statewide, especially in rural and underserved areas.

Everyone in the School of Dentistry has a story about their decision to embark on a career in this field, and each one has a similar moment of truth — applying to dental school and then waiting (and waiting!) to be accepted. 

We’re an exceptionally creative group of people here in health sciences, and that’s evidenced at the exhibition happening through the Community Arts @ Health Sciences program.

Attending and presenting at professional meetings is an excellent way for students to network, make important connections and increase their understanding of the dental profession.

Born in Ukraine, she became a US citizen and enlisted in the Army. Now she’s ready to combine service to patients and country.
